The 4L60E is an electronically controlled automatic transmission. This transmission is used in trucks made by general motors. Here we will discuss 4l60e transmission problems, which will be helpful for you in recognizing any malfunction:
Up shift Problems:
You can easily recognize when the problem occurs with the transmission if it gets wholly failed to up shift. Or else it may up shift only in case of releasing the throttle only. 1-2 Shift Failed at WOT:
Another problem arose when the 1-2 shift failed to happen at Wide Open Throttle until the gas gets off. In this case, you should replace the TPS. Simultaneously apply a circuit or 1-2 accumulators in case of a leak in second gear. It would be best if you double-checked while using the pressure gauge.
1-2 Shifts shakes Wide Open Throttle:
When 1-2 shift shakes WOT, then it causes a delay or abnormal 1-2 growth. It means a problem is only in the 1-2 transition. 1-2 accumulator pistons cracked in the passage. You are required to check the yellow spring inside the accumulator place to prevent breakage. The entire accumulator housing needed to be replaced if the accumulator walls have broken.
1-2 shifts get harsh into OD:
In case if 1-2 shifts gets delay, then TPS required to be checked. If there is a smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion, everything is perfect. Otherwise, you will have to replace it because it may not shift into OD and gets harsh.
If transmission can’t up shift out of first and the speedometer reads zero at all times, it is a clear indication of VSS failure. Therefore, the transmission’s rear is required to be fixed to access VSS.
In case transmission seems noisy while the car was moving in first gear and reverse, you are required to shift the transmission to third gear. By this method, the noise vanishes completely. The problem of noise may arise due to a lack of lubrication. It may happen if the car has traveled high miles. Therefore, it is needed to remove or repair it as soon as possible.
Absence of Movement in All Gears:
4l60e transmission problem arises on pump failure or total loss of fluid. Therefore you need to remove the transmission and repair it. Check fluid level after turning off the engine. Start the engine now and recheck the liquid level. The pump is broken if the story does not decrease in running the engine.
