Marketing is a necessary (although at a lot of times, fun) evil that all business have to tackle. A business is nothing without its marketing. However, since the rise of the internet, marketing has become faster than it ever was. Trends can change in an instance and if you do not keep up your company can get lost in the wind. This can be the case when it comes to advertising your YouTube videos.

Tags, Titles, And Google

One of the quickest ways to take note of the changing landscape of YouTube is through what titles are used on the site. The basic rule of titles is that they should be short, tell people what your video is about (what you are indirectly advertising to them, or directly doing so, depending on your marketing method), and not be clickbait. Clickbait may gain views but it will not improve watch time. The latter is what you need to see that people watch your video till the end and see what your product or service is. If you use clickbait titles, you may get views but not clients. Plus, people will not trust you from then on out.

Tags are also important since this is how your product can get discovered. Tags are what people are searching for on YouTube. If people want to learn a skill they will use the word “tutorial” or “how-to”. If you are offering them a skill and do not put those words in your tags then you are missing out on a gigantic client base. This is the same when it comes to selling products or offering services.

However, the first place they will reach for what they want to find is not on YouTube, but through Google. This means that your words (titles, tags, etc.) should be Google friendly. The more research you do and the better you figure what which words to use the higher your chances of landing on the front page of your niches search results. SEO’s dream.

Sharing

YouTube videos are not only viewed on the site and through Google but several other social media platforms. That is why you should share your videos around to get an increase in views. You can also opt to buy views but this should only be done in the beginning to make your work more appealing to newcomers. Purchasing views too often will make you look untrustworthy and suspicious. Cross-promotion over several platforms is the way to go to get eyes on your product or services. However, do not spam (even your friends) since people will lose interest and not give you another chance.

Quality

Now, you may have figured out the secret and method of online marketing which is not a small task. But marketing can only get you so far. The rest is up to your content. The best content that you can put out is what people would want to see and, more importantly, want to share. Therefore, help to market it.
