K2 base camp trek has become the most selling holiday for Apricot Tours. In a recent “Travel to Pakistan” report published by the leading adventure company of Pakistan, they identified that foreign trekkers choose K2 base camp trek over any other trekking trails in the country.
K2 is the second highest mountain on earth after Everest in Nepal. It is the highest mountain of the Karakoram Range. The trends show that 82% of the trekkers who come to Pakistan to trek to K2 base camp have been to Nepal for trekking at least once.
The report also highlights that the 42% of the trekkers were in the age range between 35 to 44. The percentage of male trekkers was 63% while female accounted for 37% of the trekkers. Solo female travelers have also been increasing by 5% compared to last year.
K2 base camp trek is also known as K2 Trek, Concordia Trek and Baltoro Trek by trekkers and mountaineers. It is reasonably rated among world’s top 10 trekking trails. The circular K2 trek with a different route is known as K2 and gondogoro la trek.
The amazing hike mainly consists of walking along world’s fifth longest non-polar glacier (62kms) and Godwin Austen glacier. Accessible from Pakistan, the hike provides a grand lifetime experience for nature lovers, wanderers, mountaineers and hikers from around the world who can visit and spend time in the throne room of mountain gods.
The highlights of K2 base camp trek include 8,000m peaks (Gasherbrum I & II, Broad Peak and K2), 5000 to 7,000m peaks (Uli Biaho, Urdukas Peak, Trango Towers, Lobsang Spire, Crystal Peak, Mitre Peak, Biale Peak, Marbel Peak, Mustagh Tower, Masherbrum, Gasherbrum 3 and 4, Cathedral Peak etc)
On the trail, trekkers are surrounded by mighty glaciers including world’s third longest non-polar glacier – Biafo (67km). Other glaciers include Muztagh, Yermanendu, Mandu, Liligo, Vigne, Godwin-Austen, Biango, Dunge etc. The pony trail also intersects rivers and streams. Rivers include Braldu, Panmah, Indus etc.
Apricot Tours has been promoting k2 base camp for years now among other holidays to Pakistan. The company’s second most selling destination is Nanga Parbat base camp. Apricot Tours has also started a new initiative to sponsor one girl’s primary education for every foreign trekker who visits Pakistan for K2 base camp.
