The Miami Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals will honor Ron Book and others positively impacting their local communities this November.
Ron Book will receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award at National Philanthropy Day, hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Miami Chapter. Homeless Trust Chairman and children’s nonprofit co-founder Ron Book will receive this year’s top accolade – the prestigious 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award. “I’m truly honored to be receiving this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award courtesy of AFP Miami and its esteemed National Philanthropy Day committee,” says Book, speaking from his home in Miami-Dade County.
Ron Book is a prominent Florida lobbyist, philanthropist, and attorney. He recently marked a quarter of a century at the helm of the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust, where he serves as Chairman. He is also a recent recipient of the Florida Bar’s Pro Bono Service Award, recognizing his work alongside low-income Florida citizens.
The philanthropic attorney and lobbyist serves on the charitable boards of Best Buddies, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, the Mourning Family Foundation, and Lauren’s Kids. Long-time Miami-Dade County resident Book co-founded Lauren’s Kids, a vital children’s nonprofit, with his daughter, Florida State Senator Lauren Book, in 2007.
Every year, National Philanthropy Day celebrates those who have most significantly benefited their communities and the lives of fellow residents over the past 12 months or more. Events honor the efforts of volunteers and philanthropists in hundreds of cities across the United States.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals believes philanthropy and volunteerism are selfless acts of generosity and kindness deserving of widespread praise. Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Ron Book’s local branch, AFP Miami, will mark National Philanthropy Day 2023 with a luncheon on Thursday, November 2, 2023.
Their 36th Annual National Philanthropy Day Anniversary Awards Luncheon will take place at landmark South Florida events destination Jungle Island, located in the heart of Miami. Attendees can partake in registration and networking between 11 AM and 12 PM. The event’s lunch and awards program will begin promptly at noon, concluding at 2 PM.
